The department of computer science at college of education of pure science held a scientific symposium

    The department of computer science at college of education of pure science held a scientific symposium entitled “Social Media (websites) and its Effects on Universities Students’’ in the main Hall of the conferences and symposium on Thursday, 20/10/2016. The goal of this symposium was to give the definition of the social networking sites and their types. Also, what are the positive and negative effects on the university students under the great development that we experience in the field of information and communication technology. The symposium included the great development that the world has witnessed after discovering the Internet, which led to a great revolution in the field of communication. This thing making the world as a small village. It has also showed that social networking sites are a double-edged weapon. Despite the huge benefits that we get through the services offered by social networking sites on educational, news, propaganda fields, community awareness, and the development of creative skills, but if we use it in a negative way and wrongly, that will be reflected on us. Therefore, may not be on university students to devote more of their time on these sites, because they may cause addiction and to neglect the study. During this symposium there was a discussing to the survey which was conducted at the department of computer science students to stand on the negative and positive effects of social networking sites on university students. The symposium recommended that we should placement the social networking sites so that they are positive and effective communication tool between students. As well as we must awareness the student about the riskiness of the social networking site if we use them in the wrong way.
